San Sebastián - What to do, where to stay

October 14, 2018

If you're anything like me, you sometimes need a place to disconnect, relax and forget about work, worries or negative energy. This place can be San Sebastián, or Donostia in Basque language.

When I first arrived, I was surprised at how relaxing the atmosphere was! The streets were almost empty, the boardwalk had few tourists and almost only people going on their morning run, going on a walk with their dog or simply meditating by the beach.

Where to stay

In San Sebastián, the prime location to stay is right by the beach, and Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra is perfect for that.

When you go to the balcony you have a front row seat to a peaceful scenery - the sound of the waves (I'm not even exaggerating - it was that peaceful!).

The rooms have stunning decoration, are quite spacy and on top of that, the bathroom had a gorgeous hydromassage bathtub! The amenities are something to remember - a full bag of self-care products, pool towels, slippers and robes!

Check them out here and see on the photos how perfect it is!

What to do

La Concha Beach

The best beach in San Sebastián, has great accessibility and it's nearly impossible not to find a spot on this beach! It is also one of the best places to exercise in the morning due to its long sidewalk, where you can also soak up the sunset views! This is also where Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra is located.

Climb to the top of Monte Urgull

This mountain has amazing views over San Sebastian! At the top of Monte Urgull hill sits the Sagrado Corazón statue (statue of Jesus Christ with his hand on his heart), which you can easily see as well from the city as it is 12 meters long.

Parte Vieja

If you're looking for a place to go out at night, or simply looking for a bar and restaurant, you'll be able to find plenty in the old city narrow streets!

Ondarreta Beach

This beach is a bit further away from the city center, but right next to La Concha beach. It is very calm and has crystal clear waters!

Paseo Nuevo

When visiting Monte Urgull, you cannot miss going for a stroll in Paeo Nuevo. It's perfect to enjoy the city/mountain/sea views while going for a bike ride or a walk!
