As you've probably seen on my Instagram, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Maltese Islands with Air Malta. I thought it would be interesting to show you a bit of what happens "behind the scenes" and tell you more about my experience of flying with them.
Air Malta recently created a route between Lisbon and Malta, that allows you to be just a flight away from visiting the beautiful islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino.
They have 2 roundtrip flights per week (on thursdays and on sundays), giving you the opoortunity to choose to either go on a weekend getaway or go for a longer trip!
The trip started with a really nice surprise I was definitely not expecting! Most airplanes are just simple and boring, but this time, I had the opportunity to fly on the coolest looking airplane! See below for yourself :)
One thing I believe no one should take for granted nowadays, is when an airline is on time. There were no delays and we got to Malta right on time!
Prepare your journey in Malta
Because the flight between Lisbon to Malta is 3 hours, you can use that time to plan your trip. Air Malta had on each seat a free map of Valetta with tours and cruises available and even an exclusive discount you could use. Never seen that before on any airline, and I felt it was very thoughtful!
Air Malta gives you the possibility to purchase whatever you like from their in-flight menu, which I think is interesting as this way you have several options to choose from, instead of only having the food of the day (that you may not even like).
We flew on 2 different airplanes (their interiors were different), but both were quite comfortable to sleep in (yes, I definitely fell asleep :) )
What we got to experience
The Maltese islands are mostly known for it's pristine turquoise waters, but they have so much more to offer: from exploring the city of Valetta, getting to know the three cities of Birgu, Senglea and Cospicua and their history, experiencing the silent city of Mdina (where they filmed Game of Thrones), seeing the Popeye Village, … The list goes on and on, as there is so much that is worth seeing! See below part of what we got to experience, and also read this article to know more about Malta!
